Trail Cameras

  • Can MINOX trail cameras be powered with an external power supply?

Yes, but please note the maximum voltage to avoid damaging the camera. When the camera is connected to an external power source, the batteries are bypassed. There is no option for charging batteries in the camera, including with a solar panel.

    DTC 390 / 395 / 550 WiFi / 650 / 700 / 1200 - An external power supply with 6 V / 2 A DC can be used.
DTC 1100 - An external power supply with 6 V or 9 V can be used.
DTC 450 / 460 - No external power supply possible.

The following dimensions are required for an external power supply:
    DTC 650 / 700 / 1200 - 4,0 x 1,7 mm
    DTC 1100 - 4,8 x 2,0 mm
    DTC 550 - 3,5 x 1,35 mm

    Which batteries are recommended?
We recommend using rechargeable NiMH batteries in trail cameras or night vision devices. Regardless of the cost savings, these rechargeable batteries offer the advantage that they output power even at low outside temperatures (below 0° C), in contrast to conventional alkaline batteries. For correct functioning of the device, it is important that all batteries have the same state of charge. Please ensure that all batteries charged evenly (if batteries are used). The indicated maximum battery life refers to low use of the trail camera during the day. The greatest amount of power is consumed by the IR flash. This means that frequent triggering / video triggering at night can significantly reduce the battery life. It can therefore be practical to select short video sequences (5 or 10 seconds maximum). Please do not use regular batteries (1.5 V) together with rechargeable batteries (1.2 V).

I forgot my password. What can I do?
Please contact our Customer Service by email. As, unfortunately, trail cameras are sometimes stolen, you need your purchase receipt to have your password reset. You can find the contact form here.

Which SD cards can I use in my camera?
The maximum capacity of the memory card must not exceed 32 GB. The cards must be formatted to FAT32 with “standard values”. Please use only cards of “Class10” or faster to avoid errors during the saving process.
  • Can the brightness of the illuminated reticle in the MINOX scope be changed?

    MINOX scopes (ab Generation ZE5.2)
The illumination electronics can be programmed for 2 different brightness curves. To set the illumination to the darker curve, remove the batterie, turn the illumination adjustment dial to "2" and reinsert the battery. The reticle illumination is now darker throughout the entire adjustment range. To choose the brighter illumination curve, repeat the procedure but turn the dial to "8", and then reinsert the battery.

For ZX5i and ZE5i scopes the procedure is identical. However, the adjustment dial must be turned to "3" for the darker curve, and "11" for the brighter curve.
  • Which SIM card is recommended for the DTC 1100?

For Germany, we generally recommend operation with T-Mobile (as a free network) or Revierwelt (currently Eseye SIM card). Please note that is has to be a data card with phone capability. In addition to this, the SIM card must not have any NFC (near field communication) function.

Setup with a T-Mobile SIM Card
The setup is carried out directly on the camera, not on a PC (without download tool). On the right-hand tab of the menu, select “Set up network” -> Select network provider. There, first select the country and then “T-Mobile”. Then go back one step to “MINOX server” and confirm the “activate” item with OK. Finally, enter the email address in “Recipient email”. The camera is now fully set up and can find the network

Setup with a Revierwelt SIM card
The Revierwelt SIM card is activated / set up online through the Revierwelt portal. You first need to create an account there and activate the SIM card. (The activation code is included with the SIM card.) In this case, do not enter anything manually on the right-hand tab (Network).

The camera is not transmitting any images. What can I do?
It is important that you first go to SET mode before switching on the camera. Wait until the camera has found the network and only then set the camera to ON.

    Please check the following:
    • Is the camera in transmission mode? If not, activate it via SMS.
    • Did the image end up in the spam/junk folder of your email program?
    • Install the software update. You can find it here.
    • Do you have enough credit on the SIM card?
    • Has the SIM card been activated? You can check this with your SIM card provider.
    • Has the PIN input been deactivated?
    • Can the camera find the network?
    • Is the camera configured for the correct network? Reset the camera to factory settings and configure it again correctly.

The DTC 1100 is no longer transmitting after credit was added. What can I do?
Many providers will block a SIM card if the credit is zero or if the SIM card has not been used for some time. Please contact the SIM card provider so they can check the SIM card and reactivate it if necessary.
  • At night, my DTC 550 does not film as long as defined. Is it defective?

No, your DTC 550 is not defective. During the day, videos are recorded for the time set in the menu. At night, the length of the videos is reduced to 30 seconds for technical reasons.
